Fourth of July at Tot School

This week at tot school, we worked on our Montessori inspired 4th of July tot school trays. I had high hopes for the week despite the obvious setback, but last Sunday afternoon Henry came down with a fever of 101. Long story short, he ended up having hand, foot, and mouth again and was miserable until Thursday.

During some brief periods of relief, thanks to Tylenol and Motrin, Henry would ask to go to tot school and I happily obliged.

His favorite tray was the rainbow rice. He decided to pour the rice between the bowls instead of scooping, which was fine by me!

Another favorite was the 1-to-1 pom-pom sorting. For the first time, he tried to actually use the tweezers instead of just his hands!

I thought he would really like the bead pouring and the picture matching, but they were ignored for the most part. I think the wooden beads plus the glass pitcher was just too heavy for him and made it difficult to pour which frustrated him.

Everything else got some use, but wasn't a favorite.

Anyone else do some 4th of July themed tot school activities this week?

Thanks! I'm glad you like it, the design is only a few weeks old!
Every Star Is Different
I love the ideas. It's funny, I have a 6 year old, almost 5 year old, and almost 4 year old. They're so easy to plan activities for, but my 20 month old... It's almost like I forgot what to do with her. Thanks so much for the ideas. If you don't mind I think I'd like to add your blog to my regular reading list, just so I can receive more inspiration. :) Feel free to check us out at http://everystarisdifferent.blogspot.com. We have lots of fun weekly!
