And the first one bites the dust...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...but I certainly haven't found my green thumb.

Last Sunday Morgan and I graduated from William Mitchell College of Law. I'm so proud of Morgan and all he's done over the last three years! I wasn't particularity excited to go to the ceremony, but, I figured that I probably wouldn't regret going, but could regret it if I missed it.

It turned out to be a pretty nice ceremony. The speakers were interesting and kept things pretty quick. It was also fun to see everyone in the funny-looking caps and gowns.

After the ceremony, our families came back to our house for a party. Calvin and Renee (my brother/sister-in-law) catered the party and did a fabulous job! They went way beyond what we were expecting and it really made the party great. It was also really nice to see everyone, both my Grandmas were able to make it, as well as my Godfather.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the last three years! And thanks to everyone who made it on Sunday!

Summer Plans

I've been getting a lot of questions about what Morgan and I are doing this summer now that we are finished with school. And the answer is: BAR PREP. Basically, in order to pass the Bar Exam (which is required to be a lawyer) most people take a class to learn the material and the skills to pass.

Therefore, this summer, Morgan and I will be taking this Bar Prep class called Barbri. Through this program we go to class 3-5 mornings a week, and then spend every afternoon studying. We will basically treat studying for the Bar like a 40 hour a week job. This class continues until middle of July, then we have a couple of weeks to study on our own, and finally the Bar Exam is at the end of July.

Besides studying for the Bar, we will both continue to work a few hours a week, so we can still pay rent. We will also be moving, hopefully getting some relaxation time in, and my personal goal - getting a tan! Oh yeah, and looking for jobs - almost forgot!

And Done!

I'm FINALLY done with finals! I think they went alright, but I haven't gotten any grades so only time will tell. My first act of freedom was to go to an Army marriage retreat with Morgan. We had a great weekend together and the best part is that he got paid to go!

After the retreat, I've been catching up on some of the stuff I've missed out on this spring. Today I planted flowers for the porch! Now that law school is over, I'm looking forward to gardening more, and hopefully this summer I won't kill all the flowers.

What I Love About Target Field

I have to say, Target Field is probably my favorite place on earth. I've been to four games so far, and its the only place I want to be. Of course the Metrodome holds a special place in my heart, but that place was awful. But, I do remember walking into that building for the first time when I was little, probably sometime in 1992, and thinking the Metrodome was the most amazing structure on the planet. I learned over time that it was not. There is so much to love about Target Field though. First of all, the location is awesome. What a difference 12 blocks can make. The Metrodome sits in a barren wasteland of nothingness. Yet Target Field is surrounded by so many bars, restaurants, coffee shops and clubs that the options before and after the game are endless. Second, the food at Target Field is incredible. Gone are the days of the Dome Dog and a stale pretzel. You can get almost any type of food you want at Target Field, and its made fresh. There are actually real chefs. Third, its…

Tips for 1L's

1. Take all the advice you get with a grain of salt, its mostly crap.

That being said....

2. Figure out what works for you and stick with it. Don't feel pressured to read cases using seven different colors of highlighters just because somebody else is highlighting with six colors.

3. Get plenty of sleep. Seriously, people like to brag about studying all day and all night, but I promise you that you will take in and retain more information when you are well rested. Even during finals, I would make sure to get 8-9 hours of sleep per night.

4. Two words: Emmanuel Outlines.

5. After taking an exam, walk out and don't talk to anyone about it. You're just going to stress yourself out by talking to people who like to make themselves feel good by trying to proclaim how smart they are spotting some obscure issue. Just leave, its too late to change your answers.

Finals Continue

I'm pretty sure the dogs love finals time...

9 days to go.

Happy Birthday Blog!

Today the blog is one year old! Its been a great year, and I look forward to blogging even more when I'm finally done with school.

Here are some fun facts about the blog thanks to Google Analytics. Over the last 16 days:
The Kavanaugh Report has had 54 visitors!  The average viewer is on the blog for 1:54 min. The visitors have come from 7 different cities in 2 different countries. I find this pretty impressive. So Thanks to everyone who keeps coming back, and we hope that continues next year!
