Date Weekend

Date Weekend
This weekend Morgan and I had an official "Date Weekend!" And it was AMAZING! We had kinda been slacking the last couple months, with the holidays and then Morgan's three weeks of sickness. But this weekend we had a long overdue weekend just for the two of us. It was perfect. And with only 5 (now 4!!) free weekends before Henry's due date I'm super happy we did it. The weekend started off Friday night with a classic dinner and a movie date. First, we went to Chianti Grill in Roseville. I sort of have mixed feelings about the place. The atmosphere was really nice, like I told Morgan, it looks like how I would build my living room if I built a custom house. I was also pleasantly surprised that someone offered me their seat on the couch in the waiting area while we were waiting for our table. Being obviously pregnant has its perks! The food at Chianti Grill was pretty good, but not great. Sort of what I expected at a mid-priced place. The thing I really wasn't

Baby Shower!

Baby Shower!
This past Sunday, my amazing sister-in-law Angie threw me an awesome baby shower! I had a blast. It was so much fun to see everyone was able to make it. Especially those of you who came in from out of town! My mother-in-law Anita, sister-in-laws Renee and Angie, and me. My sister Ashley, my Mom, and I. Angie and Jocelyn. The shower started out with everyone introducing themselves, and cutting a piece of ribbon to the length that they believed would fit around my belly. It was hilarious to see how large people thought I was! Most people had several (and some more than several) inches too much. My friend Emily ended up winning the game, she was almost EXACTLY on. But I think she had an unfair advantage, since shes a nurse and measures people a lot. ;-) Measuring Ribbon. Clearly someone was WAY off! Haha. Jocelyn (my niece) even got into the ribbon measuring fun. Next it was time for the FOOD! As a pregnant woman, I have to say this was one of my favorite parts. Angi

32 Weeks!

32 Weeks!
Another month down! I am now 32 weeks or 8 months. Hurray! 32 Weeks! When I step back and think about it, it's crazy  how fast this is all going. But boy, does it feel slow in the day-to-day. I mean if you really think about it 9 (FULL) months is a LONG time to grow something, granted you're growing an actual human being. Right about now I'm thinking 8 months sounds like a good amount of time to be pregnant. Because I'm starting to get a little bit sick of it. And I know I can't really complain yet, because I still have to make it through this month and next. But like I said, it also feels sooo fast, like I literally just peed on that stick. Its crazy! Where did the time go? When did I get so big? OMG, there's a baby coming?! Basically I'm feeling a giant mix of crazy pregnancy emotions! But I guess that's all part of the fun. ;-) Huge Bare belly! Ah. Thankfully still no stretch marks! Right now, I'm still feeling pretty good physically. I&

New Name - New Look

"The Kavanaugh Report: Law School Edition" is no more. We are now officially just "The Kavanaugh Report." This change has been a long time coming. Morgan and I have discussed this for awhile now, and we have decided it really doesn't make sense to continue to be "Law School Edition." We have been out of law school for 8 months and as painful (or not - depends on the day you ask) as it might be its time to move on. I guess this is probably one of the final steps of purging law school from our lives and living as real contributing members of society. For some reason this seems difficult for me, and I'm feeling nostalgic about law school today. Maybe its because we went to William Mitchell College of Law's winter graduation ceremony this past weekend (and a big CONGRATULATIONS shout out to all my friends who graduated - particularly Kara and Mitch!) or maybe its a desire for more intellectual stimulation, or maybe its just pregnancy hormones. I

Nursery Progress

Nursery Progress
Since the plague seems to have finally left our house (poor Morgan took the brunt of it) we have finally made some serious progress in the nursery! Way back in November I shared the beginnings of the nursery. Well, we finally accomplished a bunch of it! I think I have had some serious nesting to deal with over the last two weeks which gave me a serious urge to get this shiz done. It was practically all I could think or talk about. Morgan finally got so sick of listening to me whine about it that this weekend was pretty much dedicated to pulling it together. I was also motivated by my upcoming shower. I felt like I should at least have the stuff I currently own organized before adding anything else. Soo, long story short, we did it. And I think its starting to look super cute! Of course we still have some stuff left to do, and I'm sure as March gets closer we (really my nesting self) will think of other projects that need to URGENTLY (hehe) be completed. The first thing we

New Legal Blog!

Hello! I have started a new legal blog (or "blawg", but that's kind of stupid). It's called The Boundary Line, and I will post about real estate related legal issues in Minnesota. Check it out: www.theboundaryline.com .

Are you sleeping again?!

...zZz Z z Z Z Z z z Z . What?! Huh?! No! Not again...but really, yes, I'm sleeping again. Morgan asked me this a couple days ago, and the answer was a resounding YES. What can I say, I've been extra sleepy lately. I'm not exactly sure of the cause of this new extra sleepiness, but I have some ideas. One, Ive been fighting off a small cold. Nothing major, really more annoying than anything. I have a sore throat and a stuffy nose but that's it (thankfully!). Its been lingering for a week now, so hopefully its on the way out. Second, "the social hangover". I heard this term the other day and I think it fits. Basically, the social hangover is the super tired feeling people have after the holidays from the disruption in their routines. It's all the late nights and busy days finally catching up to people. And like I mentioned before, this holiday season has been particularly rushed for Morgan and I. We have also kicked baby-planning up a notch. We have finall

Money Savers

With a baby on the way, its important for our family to be aware of our spending habits. We have a budget in place and our student loans in order. I believe Nicole has blogged about emealz.com before, but I wanted to mention it again. It has really saved us a lot of time and money. Nicole and I are both planners. However, when it came to planning meals the old fashioned way (i.e. opening up a cookbook and picking meals), we simply could not plan efficiently, or in any effective and coherent manner. I mean, we'd pick a few things and then have to buy all the ingredients for that meal, but then have a ton of leftovers and useless ingredients that would spoil. Or, we'd head to the store without a plan, and buy pizza, chicken nuggets and hamburger helper, and a ton of other junk - depending on how hungry we were. We spent way too much money on groceries for little return. During school we also ate out a lot because there simply wasn't time to prepare meals. During an exercise f
