To Me, Happiness is Futurama

To Me, Happiness is Futurama
My favorite TV show of all time is Futurama. I know it is somewhat unconventional, but there's something about Futurama that I just love. I remember watching the show from time to time when it was on from 1999-2003, but Fox scheduled it at crazy times, and it was never in the same time slot. I liked the show then, but I didn't think it was that great. But then, after the show went off the air, I bought all the episodes on DVD and started to watch it from the beginning. I fell in love. I couldn't stop watching. If you need a synopsis of the show, check it out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futurama . Anyways, the show takes place in the year 3000, and the main character is named Fry, a somewhat dim witted, but well intentioned guy in his mid-20's. He was living in New York in 1999 when he was accidentally frozen in a Cryogenic Tube and awoke 1,000 years later in New New York City in the Year 3000. From there, he meets Leela, Bender the robot, and his great (x10) neph

Sorry this is a little late - busy weekend! But here it is, the first winner is...ME! This is a picture from our seats at Target Field! It was super nice that night, and really clear. If you look carefully, you can see the moon in between the buildings. Totally beautiful! Remember to vote for next week's picture!!

Amusing Conversation...

On my way home from work, while on the bus and studying my criminal law flashcards, a man tapped on my shoulder. The card on top of my pile happened to read "Second-Degree Murder." We had the following conversation: Man (holding a cup of liquid which smelled of liquor): "What are you doing? Second-Degree Murder?" Me: "Studying for the Bar Exam. I need to know the elements of certain crimes." Man: "What's that?" Me: "The exam you need to take to be a lawyer." Man: "You're going to be a lawyer?!" Me: "Yep." Man: "That's great! Cause that means you can't be a Prosecutor!" Me: (smiling) "Yep." At that point the guy realized it was his stop and rushed off the bus. Haha, and luckily for me I was able to get back to studying. But, in the words of Toby Flenderson (from the Office): "I'm just sad the public school system failed him so badly."

Busy 10 Days!

Busy 10 Days!
Woah, this past 10 days has been SUPER busy for me. June is quickly disappearing! Its crazy. Here's a run down of what I've been up to: Last Monday: It all started last Monday when I proctored the LSAT at William Mitchell. Basically I go in and make sure nobody cheats during the exam. The nice part is that I get paid and I get to study most of the time. Sometimes the LSAT can be really interesting depending on the students taking the exam. However this time the people were pretty normal and nothing crazy happened, which meant a pretty boring day for me. Tuesday: Last Tuesday I went to work, which was a pretty normal day for me. But after work Morgan and I went to Eau Claire for his brother Cory's High School Graduation. The graduation was really nice but fairly long. It was a great to see him graduate. Congrats Cory!! Cory at Graduation! Cory Walking Wednesday: After a long day on Tuesday, not much changed on Wednesday. I went into work, which again was

Picture of the Week
I've decided to start a competition between Morgan and I on the blog over who can take the best/funniest/cutest/silliest/etc. camera-phone picture each week. We will post each picture on the side of the blog, and you (the readers) can vote on which picture is better, and deserves to be picture of the week. Then each Friday the winning picture will get its own post explaining the background/context of the picture! So make sure to VOTE! This week's picture was taken by Morgan: He packed Lexi into a box to show her she was coming with us too! Lexi is ready to move!

Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie

Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie
Now that school is done and I have slightly more free time I've been getting more interested in cooking. So on Monday I made my first real meal for Morgan and my sister Ashley. For my first meal, I made Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie. I thought this was a good place to start, since it was mainly just mixing together already made ingredients and baking. This also made it really quick to make! As most of you know it was pretty much a miracle that it turned out! I thought it was really pretty good, and more importantly so did Ashley and Morgan. Delicious Pot Pie! Everyone loved it so much that I thought I would post the recipe for others to enjoy! Here it is: 2 9-inch pie crusts 2 10-3/4 oz. cans of cream of potato soup 2 cups cooked chicken, cubed 15 oz. can mixed vegetables, drained 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Fresh herbs such as Basil, Dill, and Sage (if desired) Line an ungreased 9" pie plate with one crust; set aside. Mix soup, chicken, vegetables and cheese togethe

Lynette 'Nettie' Kavanaugh

Lynette 'Nettie' Kavanaugh
Nettie and I have been having a rough week. She has just been really really annoying and clingy. She has been following me EVERYWHERE and waking me up during the night for attention. I'm not really sure whats wrong with her, but I think she might be anxious about moving (since there are a lot of boxes packed already) or shes just not feeling well. But whatever it is I can't stay upset with her for too long, she is just to darn cute! "The Princess" Maxin' and Relaxin' in the Dog Run. Cuddling with Lexi and me.

Moving Part 3

Moving Part 3
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Morgan and I are moving to a new house (See Moving Part 2). Well, we finally nailed down a moving date! We should be getting the keys around June 19. Unfortunately, Morgan has drill that weekend, so we wont be doing our big move until the 26th. But its all good, because then we will have plenty of time to clean the new place and move some over the smaller stuff. Right now, I'm just super excited to get to the new place. I think its going to be a great fit for all of us. There is just something about knowing that your moving soon that makes you notice everything that isn't perfect with your apartment. And I'm totally at that stage now, I can't get out of here fast enough! The porch has become box storage. We have been packing a few boxes at a time, and most of our non-essentials are ready to go. That makes me pretty happy because I learned my lesson during my last move, when I stayed up almost all night finishing my packing (yikes).
