One Month Old

Today Henry is officially one month old! Where is time going? Didn't we just bring him home? It makes me really sad, but also super happy that he seems to be doing so well an that I get to spend my days with him. I'm also very grateful that I'm not working - I can't imagine only having 2-3 more weeks of maternity leave, instead of 2-3 more months.

Guess What?! Monkey Butt!

Getting Sleepy
Over the last month, Henry has changed considerably. He's grown from 19.5 inches long to 22 inches long, and from 7 pounds 13 ounces (7 pounds 8 ounces at his lowest) to 10 pounds 2 ounces! He's also much more alert (although he has been an oddly alert newborn and has always stayed awake for several hours at a time a couple times a day). Now he likes to stare at people and things instead of just sit awake. He will follow an object that he is interested in- his favorites are his mobile in his crib and people (particularly me and Morgan). Henry will also turn his head to find the source of a loud noise.

His favorite thing to do is hanging out in his bouncy seat. When in it, he watches TV, stares around the room, looks at the dogs, and plays with us. He is just starting to enjoy the activity bar that snaps into the seat as well. Henry also takes his best naps during the day in this seat, which is a life saver for me. He also likes to play on the activity mat, but only for a few minuets at a time. He also enjoys just walking around and looking at everything. He loves windows, lights, anything with pattern, and cuddling.

The bouncy seat saves my life! A much needed nap!
I just cannot believe how lucky we are, Henry is such a good baby. He only cries when he needs something, and stops as soon as he gets it. He's sleeping pretty well, and usually sleeps for 2.5-3 hour stretches. He eats great, and nursing has been much easier than I expected. He has also just started cooing which makes my heart melt every time. He is also on the verge of socially smiling. He gives us a "happy" open mouth look, but not quite a smile. So right now we are just enjoying the smiles we get in his sleep.

He makes the best faces!
More silly faces.
Totally worn out from tummy time.
Henry was tired of pictures...Nettie feeling left out - photobomb!
