TAT: Birth Order

"You are a perfectionist, organized and conscientious individual. People often see you as the leader, with strong drive and determination. You get good grades and you don’t like surprises." - Oldest Child, Birth Order Personality

This picture was taken in 1986. ::hint hint:: I am not one of the babies in the shade. I do not have a hat or a shirt. Such is the life of the oldest child.

{Side note: Can we pause here and gawk at the awesomeness of the three-seater stroller? That thing must have been a beast.}

OK, back to me. I'm not a 100 percent sold on the idea of birth order personality, but I do have to say, I fit a lot of the oldest child descriptions. I'm a little anal. A little uptight. A natural leader? Eh. Sometimes. Good grades -- yeah, I was am a nerd.

But you know what, Morgan has a lot of these same traits and he is number 3 of 4. So, explain that?

Being the oldest did teach me one thing from early on: life is not fair. Example -- On prom night, my curfew was 10 p.m. The twins' (14 months younger) curfew was later, 12 a.m. I think. My youngest brother's (the tag-a-long baby -- 7ish years younger) curfew -- what curfew? Who knows if that kid even came home that night. See, not fair. Again, such is the life of the oldest.

Poor Henry. Destined to be the uptight, nerdy, leader who can't go out for prom? I just don't know yet.

What is your birth order? Do you think it effects your personality?

I'm the youngest of three girls and I DEFINITELY got away with a lot more than my sisters did. I credit my sisters for breaking my parents in :)

Oh, and that stroller if awesome. I can only imagine how hard that thing was to maneuver!

Lot of similarities here. I'm first born followed by my brother 15 months later. I've read the Birth Order Book by Kevin Leman and I can say I am a typical first born. I fight perfectionism, try to be organized, people pleaser and I hate surprises. I can see Caden developing these traits- particularly the perfectionist trait.
