Room Tour Master Bedroom

Normally on Tuesdays, I link up with Toddle Along Tuesday over on Growing up Geeky, but for the time being TAT is on a break, so I'm going to take this break as a way to share some details about our new house.

For those of you that follow me on Pinterest or Instagram, you may recognize some of this! First room -- our Master Bedroom.

Where We're At: The actual color we ended up going with is a little darker than our inspiration but I still really liked how it turned out. In addition to the paint, we bought some new bedroom furniture and curtains. Our bedding we bought about a year ago from Ikea, and was the reason we wanted to stick with grays.

I'm not a huge fan of the way the furniture is arranged at the moment. But, its sort of a compromise between Morgan and I since he really wants the TV across from the bed.

What We Need: Our master is the most "done" room in our house. The painting was done on the first day we moved in {thanks Dad!!} so there was really no work we had to do. But we need a few things still:

1. The big one -- art. The room is basically a shell at this point. We have finally decided we want to use graphite and white antique lithographs, like this one:

but hang them like this (from here):

2. Deal with the curtains. I hate where they are currently hung, we just threw them up where the current hardware was. But if I move them up, they need to be taken up to the window length  right? Cause they just hit the floor now. Ugh, someone tell me what to do with these.

3. The lighting. The lamps leave A LOT to be desired and the overhead light is no better. I just haven't found the right replacement lamps yet.

Favorite Part: This is hard. A toss up really between the view, and our new outlets.

The view was an unexpected surprise. The night we moved in, we learned we had a super peak-a-boo view of downtown Saint Paul from our window. Its pretty amazing to have a skyline view!

The new outlets, well they were a splurge that just makes life awesome -- built in USB outlets. We are a family of USB run Apple products and other gadgets. To be able to just plug those directly into the wall, well, that's just fantastic.

So. Are you for hire? I think you should come redecorate our house :) Haha! It looks amazing! I love the color scheme you chose...and those outlets would be seriously AWESOME! Did it require any rewiring or anything like that?

I especially love your bedding and the paint color. You're welcome to come to KC and do my house anytime! I'll even bake you cupcakes! ;)
Thanks! It's still a work in progress for sure. The outlets were from Home Depot and didn't require anything special. My {handy} FIL was able to install them in a few minutes just like he replaced some of the older outlets with new ones. They really are great.
I'm so jealous! I want to move into a new house and decorate it! :) I love your flooring - that hardwood looks amazing!
My H would be really jealous of your outlets. I'm just going to pretend I didn't see that. ;)
Hello Nicole, Your back and forth between green or yellow and a graphite gray is really awesome. I think finally you can achieve your goal. Though your work has almost done. I am following you on Pinterest or Instagram regularly. You are my inspiration. Thanks for your effort.

The Ultimate Montessori Toy List -- Birth to Five -- UPDATED 2021

When you are interested in Montessori, it can be difficult to know exactly what types of products you should get for your home. Or which types of "Montessori" materials are really worth the price. There are no rules about types of products can use the name Montessori which can add to the confusion. Not to mention, every toy manufacturer slaps the word "educational" on the package for good measure! 2021 UPDATE: Please be patient with links this year, with supply chain issues things are selling out faster and restocking slower. I anticipate some of the specialty toys will not restock once they are gone. Puzzles, in particular, have been difficult to find in stock. So, with this post, I'm going to try to help with this confusion! Here's a list of Montessori-friendly toys and materials for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.  First, let's clarify that there is no such thing as a "Montessori toy." Montessori never created toys, bu

Montessori Toddler: Favorite Toys and Activities 18 to 20 months

I've been putting off this post for a little while because I felt a little disappointed that I didn't have more to share. See, Teddy just isn't that into materials, especially those on the shelf. He tends to return to a couple of favorites over and over again and ignore all other attempts at shelf work. But, really that's my own adult feelings getting in the way of Teddy's own interests, and developmental path.  It's also me subconsciously valuing fine motor skills and stillness as more important than gross motor play and movement. I working hard not to do that, and want to normalize that all toddlers are different. All children have different interests and that concentration doesn't have to mean sitting still for long stretches of time.  This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. With all that said, here are some of Teddy's favorites over the last couple of months. Favorite Montessori Toys 18 to 20 Months I'm listing the toys that have be
