Color Blue at Tot School

Henry is almost 14 months old.

Montessori, colors, blue, tot school, preschool

Its that time of the week again - Tot school time! This week's color was blue.
The activity wall was a source of joy and of frustration this week. It was joyous because Hen absolutely loved our activities. On the magnet boards, I had his new LeapFrog fridge magnets which I picked up at a consignment sale for $3! I used the blue sheep only this week. Henry couldn't quite get the sheep in the slots by himself yet, but loved to play the music on it.

This toy was also the source of my frustration. It was too heavy for my magnet guess what woke me up at 3 A.M. one night falling off the wall with a huge crash? Henry also liked playing the music way too much, so at one point I got so sick of the same two songs over and over, I just had to take the thing away.

The other wall activities this week were blue felt shapes, a blue felt fish, some blue letter magnets, some blue car magnets, and identifying noses on his baby pictures. By the end of the week, Henry did start pointing to noses, but still hasn't quite mastered this yet.
The tot trays were Henry's favorite tot school activity this week. His favorite was definitely the family tree color sorter I posted about last week. He spent so much time with this, and got so excited to see the pictures. Hen had almost no interest in matching the colors, but had a great time picking out the correct person when I would ask him.

Our second tray this week was a button snake and felt shapes. With this tray, Hen could slide the felt onto the snake through a slit in the shape. I had high hopes for this tray, but Henry had other plans. He ignored it completely. Sad face. I'll try again in a few weeks.

Our final tray was a sensory bin. This was another huge hit. I found these awesome snazzy blue pom-poms to add to the bin this week. They were a great size -- easy to pick up, but hard to fit into his mouth! He had fun placing them through a colored ring and into a bin. He did this over and over all week. Other things in the sensory bin included, stretchy frogs and lizards (dollar spot), ball pit balls, foam shapes, pipe cleaners, mega blocks and duplos, a couple types of sponges, and a few other small blue toys from around the house.

The book bin was so-so this week. Some days he would read, others he didn't even touch the books. Henry has been reading a lot lately during his non-tot school time, so I think by the time tot school rolled around, he was fine doing some of the other activities. Henry's favorite book this week was Go! Go! BoBo Colors by Simon Basher.

Other tot school activities we did this week included putting blue stickers on a blue fish for our tot school classroom wall. We also colored Cookie Monster and Grover coloring pages with crayons and markers.

We played with our blue water beads and sensory jar - check those activities out here

Finally, we painted flower pots for Henry to give to each of his grandmas for Mother's Day.
