Couponing

Since I'm not currently working (outside the home!) I have been looking for some ways to cut expenses and save some money. So, I decided to start clipping coupons. I was inspired by Extreme Couponing, but I'm certainly not taking it to that level (yet). I used to clip the occasional coupon, or used them if they were mailed to me, but I never went looking for coupons or for the best ways to save the most money using them. That has changed, and now that I can see real savings, I think I'm going to have a hard time going back to the way I used to shop.

Henry "helping" me clip coupons. Boy's got to earn his milk.

Over the last 3 weeks I have clipped coupons, started a coupon binder, and started shopping around for the best deals. And the savings are really adding up. So far this month, I have saved $61 on our groceries at Target, $10 at Walgreens, and $8 at Walmart - that's a total of $79 on items we would normally buy full priced - and the month's only half over! And I have even gotten some things for free - this week alone I have gotten a free package of sharpies markers (Target), 20 free printed photos (Target), and free container of Hyland's Teething Gel (Walgreens)!

I'm still learning all of the tricks which I will share as I get better and save even more (I know $79 is not very much to an experienced couponer). But I highly recommend checking out Coupons.com and Coupondivas.com if you are interested in couponing too!

Henry's handy work.
