The Fourth

One of the most painful parts of life is that no matter what is happening in your world, everything else around you just keeps on moving forward. So, while we deal with our 4th, we were also celebrating the 4th.

I thought I would just need to grin and bear the day because life has to go on, especially for Henry. Thankfully, we were able to have really nice day and I was able to get my mind off of the grief, even if just for a few hours.

Baby wearing cures all.

We spent the morning at the Minnesota Zoo with some really close friends and their son. This particular zoo is amazing, and even has a splash pad which is pretty perfect after a long, hot morning. And no biggie, Hen, that's just a giant bear behind you.

The afternoon and evening was spent at our house with my parents and our friends. We spent the rest of the day eating, drinking, and doing everything that you're supposed to do on the fourth.

As it got dark, people left and we put Henry to bed. We soon realized that he wasn't going to sleep, so we quick grabbed him and watched the St. Paul fireworks from our street huddled under a blanket to protect us from the bugs.

In that moment, everything else faded away and life was good.
