The Haul

I went to the Just Between Friends consignment sale yesterday that I mentioned was one of my favorite places to shop for Henry in this week's TAT.

Well, look at this haul! For $30 I got:
  • A romper
  • A t-shirt
  • 2 pairs of pajamas
  • A shape sorter with shapes
  • Wooden number and color sorter
  • Stacking cups
  • Stackable animal-shaped cars
  • Bag of wooden magnets
  • World's most annoying Elmo firehouse with cars
  • Wooden memory game
  • An Elmo scratch-n-sniff board book
  • A pair of sandals

Not a bad day's work!

If you're thinking about going to a consignment sale here are some tips that I try to keep in mind:
  • Never pay more than 25 percent of the original price -- items should be at least 75 percent off, including designer brands
  • Beware of the markup on items with their tags still on. Sometimes these aren't really that great of a deal because they are "brand new"
  • Check out all areas of the sale -- you never know where a misplaced item can be. I found that wooden memory game in a completely random place, but its one of the best things I got
  • Make sure to go to the consignment sale's website before you go, sometimes they have coupons for free admission, or half-price sale times
  • Bring cash, that way you can't go over budget
  • Use your smart phone -- check store sale/Amazon prices for brands and items your unfamiliar with
  • Stop by the vendor tables for coupons or other deals, but sometimes these vendors will try to sell things at a "discount" but I've noticed the prices are still much higher than some stores sales
Anyone else have any other good consignment sale tips?
